About The Role
Civil Enforcement Officer - Parking

£22,080 - £24,804 plus Saturday enhancement

Are you confident, calm and an excellent communicator? If so, are you interested in joining our experienced Parking Team, responsible for patrolling and monitoring the car parks throughout Aylesbury Vale?

As a Civil Enforcement Officer you will act as first line contact for the general public, providing advice on a wide range of parking queries. You will be responsible for the enforcement of legislation and the council's policies in respect of parking controls; checking vehicles for valid tickets and permits and issuing Penalty Charge Notices to vehicles contravening the regulations through hand held computer equipment. You will also record and report any defects, vandalism and hazards within the car parks to ensure the car parks are maintained to a high standard.

The role of Civil Enforcement Officer is varied, often reactive and no two days are the same. It is essential that you have excellent communications skills and experience of working with the general public. You will be confident in interacting with a diverse range of people; remaining calm and professional in potentially volatile situations, and being helpful and courteous in your approach. Whilst you will be part of an established team, you will often patrol alone and therefore must be able to work autonomously and adhere to the council's lone worker procedures.

A uniform is provided and you will be recognisable as a representative of the council. Therefore, we are looking for people who can role model the behaviours expected to our employees and represent the council in a positive and professional manner.

You must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions and be able to cover wide areas throughout the day.  Patrols are carried out on foot and also using vehicles provided by the Council so a valid, current driving licence is required. We operate a shift system based on a 5-day working week covering Monday to Saturday.  Staff work 37 hours per week

We recognise that our success lies within our people so if you have the ambition, skills and experience we are looking for and are inspired by our vision, we would love to hear from you.

On 01 November 2018, it was announced by the government that the five councils in Buckinghamshire will become a single unitary authority in April 2020.  Any changes made to the structure of local authorities in the county may affect council employees in the future.  Therefore, the five councils have agreed to restrict applications to this position to current employees of the five councils for a period of fourteen days from 7th October to 21st October. External candidates are welcome to submit their application at any point; however, if a current employee applies during this fourteen day period, their application will be assessed prior to the council considering applications from external candidates.
