About The Role

Communities Officer

Job Share opportunity - This is a part-time role of 22.5 hours (3 days a week).
This vacancy is a temporary post to cover a secondment until 31 March 2020.

The role will support the Senior Communities Officer in the planning and delivery of events by developing action plans, networking and establishing partnerships that support  continuous improvement for service delivery.

Working with the wider Communities team, you will provide technical expertise to support delivery of council wide projects, policies and strategies.

The Communities Team currently delivers a wide ranging programme of events and activities and including exciting summer events such as the WhizzFizzFest, Play in the Park, Paralympic Heritage Flame Lighting Ceremony, as well as term-time physical activity sessions for various target groups.

You will have a good knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding and will  have the ability to deputise for the Senior Communities Officer when necessary.

You will demonstrate excellent communication skills with a wide variety of people and have the ability to build effective working relationships. Ability to drive is also essential.

On 01 November 2018, it was announced by the government that the five councils in Buckinghamshire will become a single unitary authority in April 2020.  Any changes made to the structure of local authorities in the county may affect council employees in the future.  Therefore, the five councils have agreed to restrict applications to this position to current employees of the five councils for a period of 14 days from 11th September to 25th September. External candidates are welcome to submit their application at any point; however, if a current employee applies during this 14 day period, their application will be assessed prior to the council considering applications from external candidates.
