About The Role
Electoral Specialist  

An opportunity has arisen to join our Electoral Services Team.  We are looking for an experienced individual who will support the running of elections and electoral registration for the District Council, ensuring they work effectively and lawfully.

You must have excellent working knowledge of electoral registration and have previous experience to be able to assist with the planning, co-ordination, conduct and delivery of a successful outcome for all elections and referendum related activity.  You will have a clear understanding of the legislative requirements of electoral registration and elections (including referendums).  You must have a positive approach to the significant change in workload that takes place with regards to the organisation of preparing for an election.

The successful applicant will need to be very organised, accurate, have a great eye for detail, with the ability to plan effectively and prioritise their work to ensure that the tight statutory deadlines and requirements are met, whilst maintaining a high standard of work.  You will have the ability to confidently deputise in the absence of the Electoral Services Manager and proactively make decisions when problems arise.

You may hold a Certificate in Electoral Administration or be prepared to work towards this once established in the role.

On 01 November 2018, it was announced by the government that the five councils in Buckinghamshire will become a single unitary authority in April 2020.  Any changes made to the structure of local authorities in the county may affect council employees in the future.  Therefore, the five councils have agreed to restrict applications to this position to current employees of the five councils for a period of 14 days from 12th August to 26th AugustExternal candidates are welcome to submit their application at any point; however, if a current employee applies during this 14 day period, their application will be assessed prior to the council considering applications from external candidates.
