About Us
AVDC is at the forefront of changing the way that local authorities work in the future. The council is a multi-award winning and highly successful authority that recognised that local government funding was set to change for good. We have adopted a more commercial approach where we strive to generate income streams and find more cost effective ways of operating. Achieving our goal of being 100% in the cloud we calculate has saved us £6m over five years.

Our vision is to secure the economic, social and environmental wellbeing of the area. Our aim is to create more business opportunities, so that ultimately we can ‘give back’ to the community.

We pride ourselves on offering a fantastic, family friendly place to work. We promote flexible working with many opportunities for learning and development, along with an attractive benefits package. We have a state of the art head office at The Gateway, with easy access and free parking.

As an ambitious council with a strong culture based on clearly defined values, underpinned by a commercial behavioural framework, we are looking for enthusiastic, commercially-minded, motivated people to be part of our team.

Location, Location, Location!

Aylesbury is set within the beautiful county of Buckinghamshire offering a great lifestyle choice, combining idyllic countryside with rural hamlets and villages. Our smart modern offices are located close to the town centre and near to the Bus & Train stations, shops and restaurants. New housing developments are stimulating the town centre regeneration and include new retail and leisure developments. Aylesbury is a well-positioned town fabulous for families with plenty of options for education including Grammar Schools and a University Campus. We have two theatres: the newly built Waterside by the canal basin and the Limelight in the Queens Park Art Centre offering mixed entertainment of local bands, open mic nights, comedy and theatre. The Odeon cinema on Exchange Street is the local multiplex. The council-owned Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre has two swimming pools and a hi tech gymnasium. We have a local museum located in the old grammar school and only a short train journey from the Roald Dahl museum in Princess Risborough. These are both popular attractions for both children and adults alike.

Aylesbury’s attractive market square is overlooked by the Old County Hall and The Corn Exchange building. The two main shopping areas are Friars Square and the Hale Leys located in the town centre. The King’s Head pub is a fine Tudor building off Market Square owned by the National Trust. This offers locally produced ale brewed locally at Chiltern Brewery.

Garden Town Status –

Aylesbury was awarded Garden Town status in January 2017, offering a unique chance to ensure that as the town grows, Aylesbury and the surrounding area continues to be the best possible place to live work and visit. The ambition is simple – to create truly desirable communities in a well-planned, sustainable environment that makes us proud. Garden Town status allows us to better plan for the future, and help us to access funding to help build and improve Aylesbury’s transport links and infrastructure.
